Lateral Ridge Augmentation for Dental Implant Patients

UPDATE – Train your team for the most effective patient treatment!

Course Description

This intensive, lecture and hands-on program will work with participants on specific procedures including maxillary and mandibular horizontal ridge augmentation, tissue harvesting, and ridge preservation. Surgical videos and patient presentations will be used to demonstrate the clinical techniques. At the completion of this course, the practitioner will have a comprehensive understanding of horizontal ridge augmentation and ridge preservation procedures for single and short span sites.

Course Agenda

Lecture Topics: Day 1 (8:00-12:00pm)

  • Bone biology and graft healing
  • Reconstructive Risk Assessment
  • Treatment planning the horizontal defect patient
  • Autogenous bone harvesting techniques
  • Horizontal grafting techniques
  • Socket preservation and immediate implant placement

Patient Presentations (Videos): Day 1 (1:00 – 3:00pm)

  • Horizontal augmentation and discussion

Lecture Topics: Day 1 (3:00 – 4:30pm)

  • Surgical Complications and Management

Hands On Laboratory: Day 2 (8:00 – 10:00am)

  • Flap Design and Incision Techniques
  • Tension free closure techniques
  • Suturing Techniques

Hands On Laboratory: Day 2 (10:00 – 1:00pm)

  • Horizontal grafting
  • Socket preservation
  • Implant placement and Patch grafting

Course Objectives

  • Participants will have an understanding of bone physiology and bone graft healing
  • Participants will have an understanding of risk stratification of patients having alveolar ridge defects
  • Participants will have an understanding of the various types of surgical techniques to augment horizontal ridge deficiencies
  • Participants will have an understanding of procedures for augmentation of ridge defects associated with placed implants
