Details

The Department of Periodontology offers an advanced education course entitled “Internship in Periodontology & Implant Dentistry.” The experience can be tailored to the desires of the intern with experiences in clinical periodontics and implant dentistry, clinical or basic research and didactic Periodontology courseware all available. Professionals considering to pursue graduate training in Periodontology, may benefit from this Internship Program. 

This course is designed to give interns experience in didactic/clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry that will expand their knowledge and experience in these fields. Intern will attend all departmental courses and lectures with the residents. In addition, interns assist and observe clinical procedures. We also offer the intern an opportunity to work on a basic or clinical research project during the course. The research may be presented at the American Academy of Periodontology Annual meeting and could also be published in the literature. 


Objectives

  • Actively participate in a research project with the goal of presenting an abstract for a national meeting and future presentation.
  • Assist in treatment of patients in the University of Florida Dental Clinic.
  • Participate in the Department of Periodontology core curriculum.
  • Attend the Department of Periodontology case conferences.
  • Attend selected Department of Periodontology seminars and journal clubs.

Open to any U.S. and Foreign Dental Graduates

1-Year Program
July 1 through June 30


Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm (excluding University holidays)

Certification

Contact Hours: 1200 CEU’s Participation/Lecture

Upon completion of the Internship, 1200 CEU’s and a certificate of completion from the Continuing Education Department is awarded.

Includes Limited Patient Care

 

Fees

Tuition: $35,000

Payable in four non-refundable quarterly payments of $8,750.00

Additional expenses may include the purchase of a laptop (College’s choice), scrubs, and textbooks. Details provided upon acceptance.
