The class reunion cocktail reception will be from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 15th at the Harn, and the tailgate will be on Saturday, November 16th in BMS, starting 3 hours prior to kickoff.

Description
This 1.5 hour course offers an exploration of post-operative pain management, designed for dentists seeking to enhance their understanding and application of pain control strategies. Attendees will gain knowledge of the physiology of pain, non-pharmacologic pain management techniques, and pharmacologic pain management.
Objectives
- Physiology of pain:
Course attendees will be able to…- understand the mechanism of neurobiological pathways of pain transmission
- differentiate various types of pain and the timeline of pain.
- describe the endogenous pain modulation system.
- Non pharmacologic pain management:
Course attendees will be able to…- understand the various pain management strategies and how they interact with the physiology of pain.
- describe best practice home care instructions for pain management.
- understand non pharmacologic intervention for pain management based on oral care.
- Pharmacologic pain management:
Course attendees will be able to…- understand recent guidelines for the use of opioids
- determine the necessity and appropriateness of opioid pain management
- understand non-opioid pain management.
