Course Description:
Oral candidiasis a common, yet misunderstood disease of the oral cavity. Oral candidiasis is often considered at the exclusion of other more common entities. This presentation will clarify the most common clinical patterns of oral candidiasis and present other disease entities with similar symptomology and clinical appearance.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the most common clinical patterns of oral candidiasis
- Describe the various ways candidiasis can be diagnosed
- Describe the various treatment options for oral candidiasis
- Identify other oral disease entities whose signs and symptoms are similar to oral candidiasis.
Meet the Speaker: Dr. Dave Chandra
Dr. Dave Chandra is presently an Assistant Professor at the OHSU School of Dentistry where he teaches pathology to dental residents and students; as well as practices both clinical and surgical oral pathology. He received his DMD and PhD degrees from the University of Pittsburgh; his post-doctoral research training at the University of California, San Francisco; and his oral pathology specialty training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dave has authored numerous original research articles and has received NIH funding as both a Principal and Associate Investigator. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
