Course Description:
Cone Beam CT and its capabilities for more detailed imaging information and communication have changed the landscape of dentistry. The importance of diagnosis from the clinical exam is a crucial part of the dentist’s tasks. Radiological exams are complimentary to the clinical exam and are often limited with the informationprovided by classical intraoral and panoramic radiographs. This webinar will review the application of CBCT in the general dental practice and the limitations of conventional
radiographs.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Learn how clinical casework leads to superior decision-making
- Learn about the ideal initial exam & methods for increasing treatment plan acceptance
- Learn about the radiological interpretation of different conditions involving the oral & maxillofacial area
- Learn to recognize when to refer your images to a maxillofacial radiologist for interpretation
Meet the Speaker: Dr. Katya Archambault
Dr. Katya Archambault is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist at UCLA. She received a Certificate in Implant Dentistry from NYU after studying for two years from 2007 to 2009. She obtained her dental degree from Laval University, in Quebec City, and afterwards, a Certificate in Microbiology at that same university. Dr. Archambault has an appointment at UCSD as a clinical instructor within the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology and in the Plastic Surgery Department. Her clinical interests are in Pathophysiology and Radiologic interpretation of the Maxillofacial Complex, Maxillofacial Radiology, Sleep Apnea, and Airway Evaluation, TMJ, Soft and Hard tissue reconstructive Surgery, implantology and navigation procedures. Dr. Archambault is an international lecturer, published in several journals and has received several awards over the years. Dr. Archambault is also a Diplomate of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Academy of Osteointegration and International Congress of Oral Implantology
