Restorative Dentistry Update: From Conventional to Digital Dentistry

Course Description

This course will provide a comprehensive overview of innovations and essential techniques for success in restorative dentistry. A significant amount of material will be presented focusing on the “pearls” we all strive to glean from clinically based presentations. In addition, the course will include an update on dental materials, CAD/CAM and digital workflows in restorative dentistry.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the medical model on management caries lesions
  • Discuss recent advances in Adhesive Dentistry
  • Understand the latest ceramic materials and their clinical applications
  • Recognize the preparation design differences between E.max and Zirconia restorations
  • Understand variations in Veneer preparations and their clinical application
  • Select the appropriate cement for most clinical situations
  • Understand the concept and history of CAD/CAM technology and digital dentistry
  • Understand the criteria for material selection in digital dentistry
  • Understand the difference between chair-side and laboratory fabrication of restoration
  • Critically appraise the evidence in the literature for use of the systems discussed in the course
  • Better oral health care for older adults in long-term care settings
