Digital Workflows for Complete Dentures

Course Description

Digital technology has significantly transformed complete denture therapy, introducing workflows that improve precision, efficiency, and patient-reported outcomes. This presentation will critically review the scientific evidence supporting the use of digital technologies in removable complete dentures, with an emphasis on their clinical advantages and limitations. A step-by-step demonstration of various workflows from initial impression to final denture delivery will be presented, including applications for fully edentulous patients and those with existing requiring replacement. Attendees will compare digital and conventional impression techniques, explore design workflows, and evaluate available manufacturing options, including additive and subtractive technologies. The presentation will highlight diverse applications of digital technology in complete denture therapy, including intraoral scanning, facial scanners, virtual articulation, CAD/CAM, and rapid prototyping. Finally, future directions, including artificial intelligence integration and fully automated workflows, will be discussed to prepare clinicians for emerging innovations in prosthodontics.
